Ashley: If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would go to Japan.

Michael: If I had to choose, I would pick Italy.

Ashley: Why Japan?

Michael: If I could, I would love to experience the unique culture and try authentic Japanese cuisine.

Ashley: That sounds amazing! If I had to choose, I'd go to France for the exquisite fashion and art scene.

Michael: If I could, I would join you in France.

Ashley: Si pudiera viajar a cualquier parte del mundo, iría a Japón.

Michael: Si tuviera que elegir, elegiría Italia.

Conditionals with Modals (If I could, If I had to)

Las condicionales con modales se utilizan para expresar situaciones hipotéticas o irreales en el presente o en el pasado. Se forman utilizando "if" seguido de un verbo modal en el pasado simple.

1. If I could afford a car, I would buy one. (Si pudiera permitírmelo, compraría un coche.)

2. If she had more time, she would finish her project. (Si tuviera más tiempo, terminaría su proyecto.)

3. If I knew her address, I would send her an invitation. (Si supiera su dirección, le enviaría una invitación.)

4. If he had studied harder, he could have passed the exam. (Si hubiera estudiado más duro, podría haber aprobado el examen.)

5. If I were you, I would quit that job. (Si fuera tú, renunciaría a ese trabajo.)
