El pasado perfecto continuo (had been + gerundio)

El pasado perfecto continuo se utiliza para describir una acción que comenzó en el pasado y continuó hasta otro momento en el pasado.

Se forma con "had been" seguido del verbo en gerundio (forma -ing).

Por ejemplo:
