Emphatic Structures (What I do is, The thing that)
Las estructuras enfáticas se utilizan para enfatizar o destacar una acción o idea en una oración en inglés. Se construyen de la siguiente manera:
1. What I do is + base form of the verb: Lo que hago es
ejemplo: What I do is study English every day.
2. The thing that + subject + verb: La cosa que
ejemplo: The thing that bothers me is the noise outside.
3. What + be verb + subject + verb: Lo que + verbo ser + sujeto + verbo
ejemplo: What is difficult for me is speaking in public.
4. The person who/that + verb: La persona que
ejemplo: The person who called you is waiting for a response.
5. It is + adjective + that: Es + adjetivo + que
ejemplo: It is important that you finish your homework on time.
6. This/That + be verb + what/who/that: Esto/Eso + verbo ser + lo que/quien/que
ejemplo: That is what I was talking about.
7. What + subject + verb + is: Lo que + sujeto + verbo + es
ejemplo: What she did is unacceptable.
8. What + verb + is: Lo que + verbo + es
ejemplo: What you need to do is apologize.
9. The + noun + that/who/which + verb: El + sustantivo + que/quien/cual
ejemplo: The movie that they watched was very good.
10. The thing + subject + verb + is: La cosa + sujeto + verbo + es
ejemplo: The thing I hate most is waiting in line.
